is there any registry edit to to stop windows live messenger from loading itself when visiting hotmail website?

i mean, sometimes one needs to check email from hotmail but not to chat on windows live messenger....and every time one visits hotmail website, windows live messenger automatically loads...and it's very annoying...i've heard is there a registry edit..if so what is it? i'm using windows xp pro

You should be able to disable this through MSN messenger program itself, however you can manually disable it by Opening the Start Menu %26gt; Run %26gt; and type "msconfig" %26gt; go to the startup tab and deselect the MSN messenger.

A good registry cleaner would be CCleaner. You can also disable startup programs though CCleaner.

If you are deploying to a network, then it should be ok to install on the network. If your network is running applications, then those applications will have to be looked at to see if they are Vista compatible (which they probably won't be). If you areusing office 2007 on that PC, you need to make sure that station saves all their files in 2003 format so they can be read on the XP machines with Office 2003.

Suggest a few weeks or more of testing before just blindly throwing it out there.

I don't think it has any problem with any deployment or networking because i am use win Vista home in a office and in home and in my office all other computer have win xp pro and nothing seem to be problem. but 1 thing for sure when you first connect internet to win vista from a network it will show that you are not connected but if you repair it from the system tray it will not come up after that.

I recently had a sofware problem that gives a stop error and shuts down the computer...

Ive found the only real way to fix this is repair windows... Ok so fine... Im trying to upgrade from my windows Xp pro edition from my home edition in hopes of fixing the problem BUT the installation takes about 50 minutes and i cant be on my computer for more than 10 before i get the blue screen.

So i was thinking boot up in safemode w/ networking, and update from there my computer doesnt crash in safemode...

So would this work?

The best way would be to install your windows XP from scratch. Boot your computer with the XP CD in and when it asks to press any key to boot from cd, do so. Then follow the onscreen instructions. If your still getting blue screen errors, than your problem is not with windows but with some bit of hardware on your computer. From the sounds of it, it would most likely be a bad stick of ram.

no this just an access program, do this restart pc, press F12 a couple of times, boot from D: drive from there is the way we do it at the pc factory this will solve this issue

As you have XP Pro installed and only need the Product Key for activation, go to this site and it will tell you the Product Key.

thats a big pain with windows. your going to need a key code. it is saying you have no license for windows. your going to have to buy a new version of XP and use that key code. i dont think you're going to get around it. sorry

There is only one thing to do in that situation. I am a rep. from Microsoft I recommend getting it legally. Because if someone just e-mails you over the web a Key, that is Illegal and you and that person can go to Jail. But here contact the company listed below and they work with us. Since they do work with us you give then only $10.00 and they give you a legit key. I said you would maybe be e-mailing them and I told them to give it to you for $10.00! Hope everything works out. Oh and I used to own the Company so trust me I know that they will.

Windows does not shut down, why?

if you bought an original XP software but your activation code is denied, you have to contact your customer service where you bought that software. It shouldn't happen!!
For this you have to call Microsoft, click on activate by phone you will get toll free phone call and keep the menu open ,they are going to ask you to read the numbers for them then they will give you new numbers to type in the boxes.

When I try to "Safely Remove Hardware" for my SD card, Windows almost always pops up with a notice that a program is using it, even though there is no program that I can find that would be using the card in the taskbar or anywhere. Why does this happen? Is there a way to avoid this problem?

So long as it is plugged in, it IS in use; simply to record the fact that it IS plugged in!

SD cards are NOT considered "hardware" in the normal sense, they are a type of memory.

Unless your are reading from or writing to the card, just pull it out, or eject it, depending on your system.

When Windows say there is a program is using your SD card, mean you are opening a explorer windows on it or editing a file in it. If you are really sure there is no any program using the device... please do a full virus scan then...
