I accidentally erased my sound software in add/remove programs on my XP 2002 PRO...now I have no sou

On the bottom right corner I used to have the sound control icon. Now its dissapeared and I cant hear sounds, no even system sounds. What did I erase from add/remove software list that would control the sound playing on my PC/Windows XP? How can in re-install this software back? I dont have the XP CD anymore...my PC is an IBM Thinkcenter, and in the device manager folder, under other devices, multemedia audio controller has a yellow question mark and yellow exclamation point. What does this mean?

I just need my sound back. Its all gone after I erased something in the add/remove programs folders in control panel. I guess it was the default sound/audio mixer player...how do I get this back?
