I have two windows xp pros. Except I don't use one. The one that is in hdd C: is the one that I dont use, but in it there are important files(~80gb) that I don't want to loose due to formating. The hdd D: has 35gb of free space and has the windows I use. I was just thinking If i can manually delete windows xp in C:, so I dont get this annoying screen when I turn a pc on and bios screen flashes saying to select the windows and save the files.
Quick answer?
Is it okey to manually delete (if possible) a windows that is in other hdd?microsoft powerpoint
Traditionally, the (C:) drive is usually the system drive. Most programs expect (C:) to be the system drive and are written that way. So it's possible that programs now installed or that may be installed in the future won't respond properly if (D:) is the system drive. Having said that, you can use Disk Manager to rename your drives:

I think what I would do is buy an external USB hard drive. I would copy and back up everything from (C:) and (D:). Programs, documents, photos, music, games, everything. I would then format and reinstall my XP Pro on (C:) and import my other programs from that new external hard drive. Drive (D:) could then be used for nothing but files. When it comes time to back up data, I can ignore (C:) because everything on (C:) should have its original install CD. Just some food for thought.
