How can i start burning cds using nero 5 after reinstalling windows?

I recently reinstalled windows xp pro s2. After that i can no longer burn cds. Whenever i insert an empty cd-r it cannot be recognized. this never used to be the problem before reinstalling the OS. I have even edited the registry to value 2 for the cd-writer and 3 for the dvd-rom but it wont work. I have also tried value 2 for both drives. The IMAP cd burning service is running automatic so this should not be the problem. The device is a hp cd-writer %26amp; dvd-rom combi and the model is HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B if this helps.

Please help

Try re-installing the drivers for the drive through the Device Manager in the Control Panel.

If you are unsure whether you have the drivers go to the manufacturer website and search for your model.

Then you sgould be able to download the drivers with instructions on installation.

Windows xp pro comes with a writing program with it you don't need Nero at all .

to copy files to your cd writer just Right click your mouse on that file then use "send to " then you will see your cd writer in there
is nero 5 some kind of furnace used to incinerate Cd's cos it sounds powerful (wats its max tempreture) and i don't think it makes any diffrence wat windows you have (i'm sure its comatible with single or double glazing)
