Slave HDD Is Detected During Boot Up Screen But Not In Windows?

My slave HDD is detected when I enter the Boot menu but when windows xp pro starts up it's not detected. It doesn't even appear in the device manager.

Windows normally only sees drives that are formatted as FAT 32 or NTFS OR have never been formatted. Yours is formatted using another file system, like Linux or OS X, for example.

Go to the drive manufacturer's website to get the "Factory Utility" disk for your Model Number and use it to format the drive properly.

TIP: Most run under Windows, but some only boot from DOS. Do NOT use FDISK, it's antiquated and can damage newer hard drives.

Then, reboot and Windows will see it in the Disk management section.

is it formatted? if so, how? if it is FAT32 an NTFS partition does not work with it

if it is formatted NTFS run the add hardware wizard
Go to Control Panel -%26gt;Administrative tools then click on Computer Management. On the left under Storage you'll see Disk Management. See if it shows up there - if it does, you may have to partition, format and assign it a drive letter (you can do it from there by right clicking on it).
Reinstall your windows
