the login password has been forgetten by the owner at the log in screen. i am trying to help out. is there a bypass procedure for this. or how can i just install windows xp pro from dos?

If you remove the C-Moss battery (the watch battery) from inside the computer and keep it out for about 5 mins it should do away with all the set passwords.
If you decide to install XP Pro you might want to F-Disk the hard drive first in order to make sure the file systems don't counter act with each other.
