My computer keeps trying to install something at startup and tries to reconfigure Office XP professi

Hello everyone, hope you are having a good day.

Everytime I load up my computer and when it reaches the desktop stage it automatically tries to install something and comes up with the message that its trying to configure Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage. I can only use other programmes after cancelling it which can take a long time. The same message comes up when loading up office programmes e.g Word.

It stops at a point and asks for the disk. I have tried a disc called "Windows XP pro" but it doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone else encountered the above problem or a similar problem. I have reasonable knowledge with them but I can't seem to resolve it. I don't really have the time or patience to wait around for the Microsoft Customer Services to explain the problem.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You need the windows installer clean up to stop windows from trying to install that stuff.

The info is here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Download here:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/e...

run the installer clean up. select the name of the thing that pops up(I had to do this with Trayapp, and Fax Setup installer)

click on the name of the thing its trying to install and click delete.

When it asks for a disc it wants the Microsoft Office cd not Windows XP. I had the same problem with Office. It had something to do with not writing entries in the registry properly. I didn't bother trying to work it out though. I just installed Openoffice instead.
