Who to make a work group using Windows Vista?

I bought new laptop and i want o make a network between it and my desktop. my desk top operats on Windows XP pro. so any boudy know how to link them.

ps.

i am using wirless network for the Laptop. and i am also using wirless router with 4 LAN ports which i used one of them formy desktop

make both computers into the same workgroup and they should be able to see eachother. If still not able to then you'll need to turn off UAC in your Vista machine. Jus search help in the vista for USC and it will tell you how to turn it off.

Also make sure you boght a version of vista that supports workgroups. I dont think some of the lower ones do.
