I cant (dont know how) to install windows from scratch?!?

I recently purchased a new computer; therefore a friend told me to completely clean out my old drive of the other computer. He gave me a webroot erase boot disk. Well it completely cleaned the drive now I cant install Windows XP Pro. Im totally clueless in this aspect I changed the bios to boot from a cd but when I restart with the Windows cd in it says

Verifying DMI pool data ........

boot from cd:

a disk error occurred

press ctrl + alt+ del to restart

I have been trying to research this but with no luck. I only got as far as to figuring out that I need some sort of boot disk.

I cant (dont know how) to install windows from scratch?!?windows messenger

You have some Xp components missing on your cd, get anther Cd, do not even try to force it to install that, because later you get problems, because usually Windows Xp, is very easy to install, fist insert th Xp Cd in th CD drive, restart your computer just keep clicking on any button while you restarting (booting ) your computer, you will see the option to start from Cd, then you have choices, one of them is to install , chose it, and you are done,

since there is a missing component it will keep giving you error,

do not forget that when you copy a CD to put your folder view option to show the hidden files, if you don't do that you will "NOT" copy these files to your new desk ( which I think it is your Cd problem now)

Good luck

I cant (dont know how) to install windows from scratch?!?microsoft works internet explorer

Use Ubuntu. Ditch windows
Well you have to have the original disks. Make sure they are present.
you do need a boot disk, you have to have a boot disk in order to install the drivers for the cd-rom to work, without those drivers, the cd-rom is not going to be able to read the new cd, but since you have a computer that you can use, you can install the hard drive onto it, and use the computer your using now to install the windows on to the hard drive.
if u got like a dell the can help u u could try testing the f1... keys
ok, here is what you need

if you do have original CD of XP or even if you not LOL you will need a boot disk

But, there is easier way of corse LOL

if you do have ability to cpy that disk (xp cd), I mean software like nero or ISO you can contact me and I'll give you Boot.ini file.

after that you just add that file to other files of cd XP and all together burn on new CD, using software. It will ask you, when you choose option MAKE bootable cd, to locate and insert boot.ini file. that's where you will point out my file and burn

after that you just restart your computer with new CD and it will guide you all the way with onscrean instructions.
U are on the right track. U'll need a bootable winXP installation disk!!
Okay here are the steps,

1. Restart PC enter the bios usually pressing delete when starting up.

2. In Bios Change the #1 Boot Priority to from cdrom.

3. Exit and save changes.

4. Put in your system disk(Windows Xp Pro) then exit the installer be sure not to install.

5. Restart Again.

6. It should say when starting up to press any key to boot from disk. Press any Key

7. The Microsoft Xp installer will open up it will ask witch hard drive to store it on select the main one click options then delete, it will say are you sure you wish to erase every thing on this disk, say yes. Then If you have another hard drive select it and click delete. Do the same thing to it.

8. Then Select the main one again and say install to it. And It Will install.

9. Walah

10. O yeah and the fix to your problem, Make sure all boot places in the bios are set to cd-rom.

Hope this helps if not email me boarderdude71994@yahoo.com
