How do you erase programs from the Windows startup?

I use Windows XP pro, and my computer slows down every time i start it because of so many programs that load at the start up. How do I take them off from the startup?

How do you erase programs from the Windows startup?microsoft visual studio

Go to the start button

Then to Run

Then type in msconfig

Go to startup, and simply click off the programs you don't want to start. BE careful not to unclick any programs that are needed for the OS to operate.

How do you erase programs from the Windows startup?ie internet explorer

Go to Start %26gt; Run %26gt; and type MSCONFIG and Enter - go to Start Up Tab and delete them in there. Apply and OK and you're done!

PS The programs in there are usually all "deletable" (deletes the start up not the programs themselves) without problems - the ones needed to run Windows are not listed so you can disable the lot without causing any ill effects.
Run "msconfig"
Go to start-run(on the bottom right side)-type in msconfig-go to the start up tab, and uncheck what you want to not run on start up.

Everyone seems to get these answered all at once.
