I just bought a tablet pc that has an ungodly 89 processes running when I turn it on. I'd like to start from scratch, but it didn't come with a Windows disc. I can get home or pro OEM editions from friends and family, and I have the XP serial that came with my computer. Is there a way for me to install Windows XP Tablet edition without using the Toshiba restore DVD?
How can I get a copy of Windows XP Tablet?microsoft.com
On your tablet PC, if it is windows xp, you can stop the processes from starting at startup. Click start and go to run. type in "msconfig" without the quotes. then click selective startup and go to the startup Tab. you can stop alot of the stuff from external programs lime Java andNero or Quicktime. They are just update checkers. it is alot easier than buying another operating system.
If You dont want to use the Toshiba restore DVD, alot of features may be lost (like on a sony Vaio that i have, I installed Windwos XP not from the restore Cds and alot of hotkeys didnt work and my fans kept running like crazy because of no fan controller.)
If you go out and buy a copy of Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) it has Tablet edition features on it. so does Windows Vista beta 2. To get a free download, go to my Post (Jskalky) on this web site on yahoo answers. it is how to get a free copy
