Is directx9 in xp sp2 of windows?

im new to gaming and wonder do i need to download directx9 seperatly for my xp pro sp2 or is this one of the endless official updates microsoft gives out..ie will i already have it?( i mean is this directx9 given out free in any service pack from microsoft or is it something you have to download seperatly from microsofts website?) where could i check to see if i already have it..please give detailed steps thanks a lot, if i have no graphics card will i be able to play games on an xp pro pc with directx9?? what would display the graphics.whatever small chips in my motherboard in the chipset?? please explain all this cheers

ya , direct is inbulid in microsoft XP sp2 but it has only 9.0a version you need to update it manually you can get it in microsoft page itself as an Free download or esle

Yes it is already there. You can check the version you have by going Start%26gt; Run and type dxdiag and enter.
Hi, no directx 9 is not a security update from Microsoft so I doubt it is included in Windows. You r going to have to download it from http://www.microsoft.com The latest version for Windows Xp Sp2 is DIrectx 9.0c. Just search for its download on Microsoft or yahoo. You always have a graphic card in ur computer but some people use their built in graphic card which doesnot have a lot of video memory so u may need to buy a new one. I suggest u take ur cpu to a computer store and have them fit in a good and affordable one for u because u don't seem to know a lot about computers. Your graphic card is actually called a VGA card.

if u have bought xp just now,then directx9 is there.if not ,then u will have to download it separately.u can got to google and search for directX9
