Is windows vista worth having(not necessarily buying)?

ive been offered to get windows vista from a friend. should i install it vs my windows xp? a pro and con list could help if u can manage.

Is windows vista worth having(not necessarily buying)?windows 95

Vista and XP are both fine o/s, I Dual Boot and have had Vista Home Premium since the day it was released

If your friend is loaning you his Vista then you could not use his product key as it would render his installation void.

If you should wish to install Vista, install it on a seperate partition then you would be able to keep XP as well.

Vista must be installed AFTER XP as both o/s are handled by Vistas Boot Manager. You then get a choice of which o/s you wish to use. It will read.

Windows Vista

Earlier Version of Windows (That will be the XP)

Hope this has helped.

PS. Remember a seperate product key MUST be used.

Is windows vista worth having(not necessarily buying)?download ie internet explorer

pro: it boasts of the latest security features, more stunning design, new environment, new computing experience

con: resource hog considering its required specs. updates on drivers and softwares are still under process so some might not work on it.
Personally i would wait until SP1 at least, there are lots of security issues with vista, let the o/s age a little firs, so at least most of issues resolved.
lets see it isnt compatable with a lot of products...

and it requires a lot of updates...

i didnt want it when i got my new comp. but thats all they had...

but all n all ive had the comp 4 a little while now and its been pretty good...

so i say its worth it.
I'm not a pro on Vista or XP, but I would highly reccomend sticking with XP. Vista is incredible in the means of visualizations, but once you install Vista, you can't ever un-install things that come stock with Vista. So if any program or file becomes corrupted, you're screwed. XP is also a lot less RAM tolling on your computer.
I bought a new desk top from Dell about four months ago and it came with Vista. It's not compatible with anything that I have. I so wish I would have stayed with XP, life would have been so much easier.

On the other hand Vista is pretty neat and some of the features are cool.
